| what's so fun about answering questions? |

from the page of the divine miss jenny apple:

1. What time did you get up this morning?
Ninish.

2. Diamonds or pearls?
If I had to pick I guess diamonds, but I think they look like shiny glass and what I want most in the jewel world is a beautiful marquis cut emerald set in a silver ring.

3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema?
Finding Neverland, which was sweet and lovely but no best picture contender.

4. What are your favorite TV shows?
Do they have to be current? On the favorites ever list: Buffy, Angel, The X-Files, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, The Muppet Show, and probably Thundercats. As for currently running, since we don't get Fox and I therefore don't watch The OC, I only watch Lost. And occasionally Cold Case, for no understandable reason whatsoever.

5. What did you have for breakfast?
A south of the border skillet at The Blooming Branch with avocado in place of chorizo.

6. What is your middle name?
Amanda

7. What is your favorite food?
Sushi

8. What foods do you dislike?
Mushrooms, most of all. And most red meat, which is a large part of why I don't eat it. I also have come to realize that clam chowder grosses me out.

9. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Ben & Jerry's One Sweet Whirled and any coffee ice cream with tasty chocolate bits in it.

10. What is your favorite CD at the moment?
Hrm. The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan was in J's car when I drove it to the store earlier and I kind of loved it. My favorite CD changes a lot. I listened to one song, "Begin," on the new Ben Lee CD about eight times on the way to and from Portland earlier in the week, though.

11. What kind of car do you drive?
A mid-life crisismobile inherited from my grandfather, who bought it because his girlfriend at the time didn't like his classy old Mercedes. 2001 Toyota Solara which is always dirty and which, my mom's friend Franz likes to joke, is the only Solara in the world without a sunroof.

12. Favorite sandwich?
This veggie sandwich from the Monroe St. Cafe with smoked gouda, balsamic vinagrette, avocado, tomato, red onions, pepperocinis, lettuce and probably something else delicious that I'm forgetting. I love sandwiches that are like salad on bread.

13. What characteristic do you despise?
Tiresome arrogance, and the trait that makes some people have to hold forth on every topic under the sun as if they are experts when they really are not and probably just read on article in a magazine one day but instead of just saying, "Oh, I read about that, isn't it something this and that?" they have to expound at length as if they spent all their time in a research library.

14. Favorite item of clothing?
The magic skirt: William B stretchy denim with a little built-in belt. I still mentally thank Princess Leia whenever I get complimented on it.

15. Ireland or Australia?
Australia!

16. What color is your bathroom?
White and wallpaper and the largest bathroom in any house I've ever lived in: the shower and the clawfoot tub are separate, and I've had bedrooms smaller than this room. For reals.

17. What is your favorite brand of clothing?
I live on sale items, really, so I tend to shop at the Gap more than is strictly necessary because they have good sales. But there are certain items for which I am brand-specific: Levi's jeans (although they seem to have mucked with my previously-beloved 518s and made them asspants), Etnies flip-flops (not that I can find any in this town!), Calvin Klein bras, and I have to confess that I bought a (seriously on sale) pair of corduorys at A&F the other week and they not only are insanely comfy, they make my butt look great. Too bad everything else there sucks.

18. Where would you retire to?
Sydney

19. Favorite time of day?
Brunch and evening

20. What was your most memorable birthday?
23, dinner at Aquavit and then making friends with the bartender at Luna Lounge and getting incredibly drunk on things we picked at random from Mr. Boston's. 21, for the party the best friend helped me put together and how wonderful everyone was right when so much of my world had fallen apart. 27, because I was drunk in Australia with so many people from so many places. 28, because that morning was the first time I woke up with J. 24, because the wine bar downstairs was open and they wouldn't let us pay for my cake. I've had some really good ones.

21. Where were you born?
Eugene, OR

22. Favorite sport to watch?
OMG I am so utterly addicted to college basketball that even though the Ducks stunk it up most of this season, I spent this afternoon lolling on the couch watching Washington upset Arizona for the Pac-10 title and discussing NCAA tournament seeds and when they'd be announced tomorrow.

23 & 24 deleted due to this not being over email.

25. What fabric detergent do you use?
Whatever's on sale and that Cheer for dark clothes. I like to imagine that it makes a difference.

26. Coke or Pepsi?
Diet Dr. Pepper

27. Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Night owl turned not-so-much.

28. What is your shoe size?
What appears to be the national average of 8 1/2, thus I rarely get any good clearance shoes.

29. Do you have any pets?
My pretty kitty Halo

30. Any new and exciting news you'd like to share with your family & friends?
Um...I think I share most of it here most of the time. I asked J today if we could go to SF for a weekend soon and after I convinced him it would only cost us the gas 'cause we'd stay with friends and go out like we do here, I think I got him to say yes. Wheee!

31. What did you want to be when you were little?
A librarian. Because it's quiet and that's where the books are. I wish I still had the assignment on which that was written. I also wated to be a singing dancing actress, but who doesn't?

32. What are you doing today?
Right now I am going to peruse my cookbook in search of something tasty to make for myself. Then I am going to decide if that's really what I feel like doing, or if I should go to the Black Mountain show (I hate being that person that gets on a list and then doesn't go, but I really don't feel like going to a college show alone and being the old lady) or maybe to a movie. If I decide to cook, I will be off to the market and the video store, because I read somehwere that Nausicaa of the Valley of the Somethings, a previously unreleased-on-DVD Miyazaki movie, is out, and I want to watch it. But probably I won't find it and instead will come home, cook, and watch all the episodes of The Office that I haven't seen yet.

Unless something else comes up.
