this weekend was full of music and gatherings: friday night i came home and threw together a rushed pasta dinner (from a cookbook purchased at a delicious, lengthy lunch with J) before a small "house party" to see a friend's band this was followed by drinks out with J's now-former coworkers. (long story.) conversations were great fun, pitchers were consumed, and i wound up in a long, long discussion about video games, the likes of which i haven't had in some serious amount of time. a tiny beer and a game of quiddler at a friend's house, and off to bed.

on saturday i don't think we left the house until the evening. or did we? somehow, weekends - or all days, really, looking at my forgotten calendar full of white boxes - are something of a blur. but eventually we headed out for a performance of rachmaninoff's vespers (are we grownups or something?) and then to a birthday pajama party, to which we actually had to bring pajamas lest we be attacked with a stash of really awful ones the birthday boy's girlfriend was rumored to have on hand.

the birthday boy made delicious cocktails and i, well, i mainly petted the cat. it was one of those nights where i fell between conversations, too often in just the wrong place. but it was ok - we'd been out till three the night before, and an early departure to put us in bed by one was just what i needed.

and sunday was sunday, coffee, bagels, and work due this morning. my first book column, which in all honesty is kind of exciting, especially when the editor tells me i have a great style, and it's so easy to edit because he doesn't have to do anything.

i had something else to say but work calls. so be it. i have to start doing all my work at work, so sunday nights don't find me rushing to finish reviews before grey's anatomy, my newest bit of television obsession, is on.
